Chevrolet Canada Makes Electric Vehicle Charging Easier by Supporting the Standard Installation of a Level 2 Home Charging Outlet

2021-06-16

  • To Put ‘Everybody In’ an Electric Vehicle, Chevrolet partners with Qmerit to support the standard installation of a 240-volt Home Charging Outlet with Purchase of a new 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV or EUV
  • For most EV owners, home charging is the most convenient method of powering their vehicle

OSHAWA, Ont. (June 16, 2021) – Chevrolet is making EV ownership easier for Canadians by covering the cost of the standard installation of a Level 2 (240-volt) charging home outlet for eligible customers who purchase or lease a new 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV or Bolt EV1.

Charged By Chevrolet, when you select the home installation option, provides eligible customers access to faster charging right where they want it – at home - when paired with the new available Dual Level Charge Cord, standard on 2022 Bolt EUV and soon to be available for purchase on 2022 Bolt EV2. Owners can plug a compatible charging cord directly into the 240-volt home outlet negating the need for a standalone charging station.

“This is another step to make EV ownership easier and more accessible to everyone,” said Laura Pacey, brand director of Chevrolet Canada. “We understand the ability to conveniently charge at home or on the go plays heavily into a customer’s decision to purchase an EV and we’re providing the access to solutions to simplify the EV experience for all Canadians.”

Since most EV owners can satisfy their daily needs by plugging in at home, it is essential to make at-home charging easier for current and interested customers.

  • In the U.S., most plug-in electric vehicle drivers do more than 80% of their charging at home.
  • When using the Dual Level Charge Cord (240-volt 32 amp charging cord), the 2022 Bolt EV achieves approximately up to 41 km per hour of charge3
  • When using the Dual Level Charge Cord (240-volt 32 amp charging cord), the 2022 Bolt EUV achieves approximately up to 40 km per hour of charge3

For eligible customers who already have Level 2 charging capability, or don’t require it, Chevrolet is offering a $7504 FLO public charging credit so eligible customers can charge on the go.  FLO provides access to the largest number of public charging stations in Canada, thanks to its own FLO network and convenient roaming agreements.

The Bolt EV has led the charge in putting more drivers in electric vehicles. Since its market introduction in 2017, global sales have topped 100,000, with over 13,000 Bolt EV sales in Canada.
